On August 29, 2026, the Rotary Club of Manila Supreme 198 successfully spearheaded a dual-impact community project aimed at promoting wellness and financial independence for the residents of Barangay Galilee. Held at the Barangay Galilee Multipurpose Covered Court, the event featured a comprehensive Free Medical Screening & Wellness drive alongside a hands-on Livelihood Program: Skills for the Future.
Health and preventive care were brought directly to the community through specialized screening stations:
Blood Sugar Screening: Helping residents monitor diabetes risks and overall metabolic health.
Cholesterol Check: Assisting community members in understanding their lipid profile for cardiovascular health management.
Uric Acid Screening: Assessing the risk of gout and kidney health issues.
Primary Care Support: Partnered with Unilab Primary Care, providing access to essential information and support for cardiovascular health, metabolic condition management, and anti-infective care.
In line with Rotary’s commitment to sustainable development, the livelihood initiative empowered residents with practical skills to foster micro-entrepreneurship and household savings:
Scented Candle Making: Teaching traditional and decorative techniques to make artisanal candles.
Powder Detergent Production: Training participants on how to make effective cleaning powder at home.
Dishwashing Liquid Making: Guiding residents through formulating household soaps for personal use or income generation.
3. Food Distribution Drive
To wrap up the activity, the club distributed packed Jollibee meals (Chickenjoy) and refreshments to ensure the participants and local families were well-nourished and celebrated throughout the morning.
3️⃣ Maternal and Child Health – Supporting the nutritional needs and overall well-being of mothers, children, and their families.
